The GA4Publishers dashboard uses Google Data Studio’s data control feature, allowing you to connect your data with just a few simple clicks and immediately generate insights. Still, there are a few things you should know before starting.

Logging in via your Google account

Before you access the dashboard, you must be logged in to the Google Account to which your Google Analytics 4 property is connected.

If you have more than one Google account, then the account you’re attempting to use must be your default account – or you must be signed out of all other accounts. Unfortunately, Google Data Studio doesn’t let you switch account profiles while inside a dashboard, and it will always open under the profile of your default account. You can work around this by either connecting from a different browser, or logging out of all other accounts.

Selecting you Google Analytics 4 property

Once logged in, simply visit the dashboard and select your Google Analytics property in the dropdown along the top:

That’s it! Your data should now be connected and the reports populating.

To get the most of the dashboard, you’ll need to create Audiences and identify Conversion events. Find instructions for that here:

Can I connect my old GA (Universal Analytics) property to GA4Publishers?

No. Unfortunately, there is no compatibility between GA4 and UA in Data Studio – or anywhere else. These are entirely different platforms and the underlying data is not 1:1. You can use the Audience Explorer dashboards I created for UA. But beginning July 1, 2023, Google will cease all data collection on Universal Analytics accounts, and you really should set GA4 as soon as possible.
